long side, I don't know the name of these, but you use them on dry wall. Stick the long side in and twist around until only the hook is sticking out. Only leaves a very tiny whole. Get from hardware store. Package gives weight it will take.
I use the command hook series all the time but wouldn't hang anything precious on them---a picture in my bathroom took a header almost into the commode, but it had been up a long time. I use the above squiggly hooks all the time, but only on drywall---didn't work on plywood---and, if you read the directions first.....
Best way is to use straight pins. I know...you think they won't hold up but they do just fine on most pictures. The ONLY thing not on a straight pin in my house is an old antique mirror that weighs about 40 lbs. Be sure to tap them in with a hammer at a 45 degree angle. I purchased the pins at a sewing center and they are a heavier thickness than those sold at most stores. They leave no visible holes. :)
3M command strips or hooks
Sewing machine needles are great. The tiny pointed end goes in the wall and leaves practically no hole at all. The heavy end will hold a lot of weight and sticks out from the wall the right length to hang a picture, etc. on.
