If you know someone /somewhere that can give you used car oil, you can paint car oil on your fence. I did this, now it does give it a darker look but that's okay! Definitely cheaper that the stains at the stores. It soaks into the fence just like stain and last longer on the fence.
HI! IF YOUR FENCE IS NEWLY CONSTRUCTED, I WOULD WAIT A FULL SEASON BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO STAIN OR SEAL. THE TREATMENT IS STILL NEW AND WILL NOT ALLOW THE FENCE TO STAIN OR SEAL VERY WELL. IF YOU ALLOW A FULL SEASON TO DRY OUT A BIT, IT WILL BE WORTH THE TIME AND MONEY YOU SPEND IN THE FUTURE. I'M IN THE FENCE CONSTRUCTION BUSINESS IN SOUTH TEXAS, SO I UNDERSTAND YOUR CONCERN. IF YOU PUT A CHEAPER PRODUCT ON THE FENCE YOU WILL JUST HAVE TO RE-STAIN AGAIN SOONER THAN LATER... ITS JUST A THOUGHT! TIME IS MONEY!
I've used vinegar and coconut oil. And it looks great.
