What colour should I paint my entry??

Debbie Harris on Nov 12, 2013A rich plum color would allow you to leave your tile, make the oak furniture come alive and the black and white picture really stand out. From your photos it looks like the walls are grey now?Helpful Reply

Jeanette S on Nov 12, 2013With your painting and the light oak, I have to think that a dark gray would be stunning. Just make sure you do not go with one with too much blue. This would be a good place to make sure you get some samples jars and try them out in the area. Foyers can turn out to be caves if you do not have good lighting!Helpful Reply

Teresa Schroepfer on Nov 12, 2013lol I see a lot of grey which is a sharp color, but my idea is a greyish green.....darker than the wall flowers. It should also make the painting pop. But, it is up to you. I would try several samples taped to the wall and look at them in all types of lighting. Good luck. Post your decision.Helpful Reply

Ken H on Nov 13, 2013All I see is grey, tan, grey. Do you have an accent color in your home? I have two tones of blue on my walls. The lighter tone is a very light blue that can go silver when the sunlight dances through the house. The other is a gloss Aqua/Blue color. To accent the whole - house color scheme, I use splashes of deep blue and smaller splashes of deep bright red. (Pillows, Glass artwork, decorative items, etc). Most all of my furniture is maple or black - with black sheers and scarfs around maple 2" blinds on the windows. People who visit are always giving complements. Perhaps painting one wall in a bright accent color will not overpower the space, or darken it too much - you could splash the color around the nearby rooms with pillows, hats, umbrellas, etc and make a somewhat unified statement that ties the entry to your home. Have fun with this - is easy to repaint one wall if you need to.Helpful Reply

Sue Hebert on Nov 13, 2013The entryway is bright, judging by the window over the long table, which will reflect into the mirrors and the door with panes. I personally like the grey idea to make your neutral accents pop and definitely don't forget to paint the door. That can make such a difference. You might consider doing the inside of your door in black. There are some great images on Pinterest to show you what a difference that alone can make.Helpful Reply

Ozzys Girl on Nov 13, 2013We are painting all our wood trim and took years off the house. I went with a brighter wall color its called Nightly Straw (Farrell Calhoun) and it would make your hall tree pop and that black & white photo will show all the detail. Our trim is a canvas now almost bright white. You have such great detail in your trim a lighter color on the walls will make it pop too. And Accent with the greys in rugs with a hint of gold or yellow to pop. If you dont want that bright Jute Straw is a more gold same brand we did that in our bedroom.Helpful Reply

D. Edward Design on Nov 13, 2013I agree with @Debbie Harris, a plum color will work nicely and give a nice transition to the kitchen while giving a good contrast to the decorative items against your wall.Helpful Reply

The Fairy Garden on Feb 05, 2014Peacock blue in a greener tone than shown in pic and add a rug..paint the back of the door and the ceiling molding a darkish grey...paint the ceiling the same color as the walls..there seems to be a bit of green tone in the tile..pick a peacock blue that brings it out..or if not pick your darker color to go with the grey there...An entrance way is a nice area to be dramatic because you aren't in it for long to get over powered. it is a good spot to introduce a color that you can pin point in other areas..bring a bit of the color into the kitchen with crockery, vases and kitchen textiles.Helpful Reply
