Going Native - Taking Out the Grass!
As crazy as it may sound, we've ripped out ALL our grass in our front yard. We also took every plant, flower and bush. We're going "native" by planning a yard that uses much less water and still looks beautiful.

I have had 2 people on our long street do what you are doing, but the final result looks so haphazard to me not front yard appeal at all. I believe in what you are doing, but I hope you are more successful (maybe they like the look?). The photo you showed is gorgeous. And living down in CA you don't get the big freezes we can get in the winter so I see where you are probably having to water year round as well.
