DIY a Poufy Decorator Style Bow

I thought I would share how I learned to make DIY Decorator style bows in case you ever wondered how to do it yourself.
The first thing I do is cut about a 2 foot piece of wire, and fold it in half and give it a twist.
Next I loosen up quite a bit of ribbon from the spool, (just makes it easier to work with) then I take the end and hold it and then I form a loop over it, (see how I am holding it in the next photo) to the size I want my loops to be.
Then I make another loop on the opposite side.
This ribbon has a definite right side and wrong side, so if I kept making loops like this you would see the wrong side. (or back side) So the next loop will get a simple twist of the ribbon.
To make sure the right side of the ribbon is making the loops. Then I just continue to twist and loop, gripping it in the center until I have the number of loops that I want.
I chose to go with 5 loops on each side.
I then loop the tail end around and I place it into the center of my bow where I am already holding it, the next step will be securing it all in place.
I take my wire and put it around the center of my bow where I am holding it, putting both ends of the wire snug and where I can grip them with my pliers.
Then I twist the wire tightly. (but not so tight that you break the wire) :0)
It looks like this.
So I cut the big loop with my scissors. Then start working with the bow.
If the wire end is long enough it can be used to secure the bow to a wreath or so on. Or simply add another piece of wire or string to attach it.
I have more photo's of the steps on my original blog post. You can see it here.
