Are you for sure they are regular flies? After researching many thought the same,however in fact they are not.I found this for you and it should be beneficial. https://en.wikipedia.org.wiki/Tachinidae.Should this be the case they are swarming due to an insect infestation.
No matter which kind of fly, it is likely a 'hatching' went on. I would suggest just spraying the plant with some insect repelant, they will move on.
