It's honey-colored, from the early 90s. How can I disguise the mirrored headboard? I think I'll refinish the wood to a dark espresso.
When we bought our house, it also had mirrored closet doors. I used prepasted wallpaper to cover them in one room. I matched the color of the paint as well as possible and it turned out great. In the other room I used one strip of the wall paper down the center and used scalloped edge border along each side, leaving just a small edge of mirror showing. It turned out very nice. There are so many wall paper designs out there, you may find something you really like. Good luck.
I think I read about someone using toilet bowl cleaner to remove the gold. There was silver underneath. Caution: I have not tried this myself.

I would take them down and spray paint the gold with silver. It will blend right in with the mirrors.
We replaced the flimsy molded panels of our sliding doors with 4' x 8 white beadboard panels. Agree with painting the gold!
LOL. I said I never tried this- don't blame me if it doesn't work.
