How do I grow vegetables in the winter?

The winter is coming up, and last year not all of the vegetables I planted in the garden didn't come out well. Any recommendations for organic composting? I heard about putting banana peels or egg shells? I would like to plant cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, beet.

Amend the soil with a garden soil for vegetables. Mix in eggs shells, coffee grounds, banana peels, into the soil.Next season there should be enough nutrients for your plants.

There are certain veggies you can grow in the winter. I used to grow snow peas and kale, winter cabbage, etc. You can make a cold frame to grow them in. It is like a small hot house. Get some old windows, build a raised garden frame to the size of the window and place it on top. Open it on days the sun is shining but close it as the sun goes down or the temperatures are low.
