You can get one of those trunks to keep it all in one place. Also something like a spice closet may be helpful
I am sure you know some cosmetics expire and are not safe to use...bacteria, etc. I would first go through your stash and dive away, throw away the expired items...Then get some clear bins...maybe even bins for shoes. These bins can be stashed on top of closet shelves, under the bed, in a pantry....anywhere you have out-of-sight storage.
I was thinking the same thing. Time to cull the herd. And the clear boxes are great for storage of small items.
I am a huge beauty junkie as well! Ikea has a great storage unit that does not take up too much space http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50192822/?query=alex9 I love it because you can put dividers or baskets in the different drawers to keep everything organized!
So much makeup and jewelry, so little time (and space). I feel you on this problem!

I'm told (I have the same issues in crafts) that to start organizing you need to first throw away or donate what you don't use or need. Then I would invest in a cheap tool box, spray paint it your favorite color and fill her up! Tool boxes are industrial, have lots of cubbies, are way cheaper than make up cases and you can get creative with them. Add some felt to the bottom so it doesn't scratch any of your surfaces it may sit on.
It sounds like you are serious about your makeup so, get serious ;) ...If you have a house then, I bet, you have a room that is not often used -guest room/office/nook or closet, why not go "whole hog" and set it up with a nice table, mirror, some great lighting and organize your stuff like at a store -put up narrow shelves (or look for little cupboards with glass doors at yard sales) and showcase your collection! You can still use the room for its "occaisional" purpose, your stuff won't be all over the place and, you will be able to fully enjoy it all :) Other people have sewing rooms or craft rooms so, I don't think it's all that crazy to have a makeup room ;)
