Now that it is officially December it’s the best time to decorate for the upcoming holidays. Decorating your fireplace mantel is one of the most important steps in preparing your house for the season. There are so many options to choose from when decorating this area of your home. We gathered our favorite DIY holiday fireplace mantel decoration options and listed them below. We even included a video of our own DIY holiday mantel idea!
Adventures in Decorating’s mantel creates a colorful look for the holidays. This look includes a buck statue placed above the mantel to draw a natural look into the home. They placed garland across the mantel and added colorful ornaments and sparkly snowflakes to contrast against the greenery. The ends of the mantel are adorned with topiary trees to pull this look together. Santa figurines were put on the mantel surrounding the block letters that spell out the word “believe”. You can change up the block letters to create other Christmas themed words and phrases such as “noel” or “let it snow”. Lastly, they added a matching wreath around the buck to tie the mantel décor together.
For a more simplistic look use Stone Gable’s farmhouse Christmas mantel decoration. To start off they attached a pine wreath to an old painted window frame with a burlap tie. The wreath contains pinecones, snowflakes, and a polka-dot burlap bow. They lined their mantel with pinecones and put miniature pine trees on both ends of the mantel to fully establish an outdoorsy theme to their décor. They also scattered snowflake figurines throughout the top of their mantel. Finally, they completed their look by hanging a DIY joy burlap banner across the mantel.
We created our own DIY holiday mantel decoration as well! First we laid a pine garland with white lights across the mantel to match the Christmas tree that is in the room. We even added fresh pine to the garland to bring a beautiful winter scent into your home. We also adorned the mantel with large stars to compliment the lights that are in the garland. Lastly, we added red, silver, and gold ornaments to the garland to contrast from the pine green color and complete our holiday mantel look.

Whichever look you go for, your mantel is bound to look stunning for the holidays!

Happy Holidays from Wet & Forget!
