What do you use to distress chalk paint?
I like it because it take very little (if any) prep work to paint something and a little goes a long way. I mostly use Waverly brand, because it is sold at Walmart and comes in great colors!
I added Calcium Cabonate to my paint and was so pleased with the result. I love the "dull" finish it gives and when waxed the sheen it adds is the icing on the cake. I transformed an antique dining room table and I'm so pleased with how it looks now. It's easy to do....just wipe down the surface with a damp clothe to be sure it's clean and paint away. I plan to do more of it when I am home from Arizona in the spring.
I made my own by adding grout to acrylic paint, so much cheaper. I actually used the wrong grout and finished up with a light sand finish which we love.
Is the wax finish affected by heat
I like using it on older pieces, and good wood furniture because I know how easy it is to come off and that it won't damage the wood if I change my mind. Through truthfully I'm more of a gloss finish type of girl.
I've used it on vinyl with disasterous results, AS chalk paint, but others have had great results. I will never try that again it ruined a beautiful piece, but I may try it on wood someday.
