Christmas sweater pillows, how to sew?
-
Cindy Morgan on Nov 22, 2013Hi Patricia. Christmas sweater pillows sound like a fun project. I've never attempted this, but have cut into bulky sweaters to repurpose them other ways. When I cut into a sweater it immediately starts to unravel and curl. A sweater is also very stretchy. I think I'd put a walking foot on the sewing machine and use a Jeans/Denim needle and a coordinating color of polyester thread. If you don't have a walking foot for your sewing machine use a zigzag stitch. I'd also cut a square from a sleeve and practice on that before starting the pillow project. Good luck and I hope you share your finished project. :)Helpful Reply

Valerie on Nov 10, 2015I would also try using a walking foot. You should increase your stitch length as well. It may help to add a row of tape over the stitch line, as this will prevent the sweater from getting caught while you are stitching. That will also help stop some of the 'curling'.Helpful Reply
