Tiled Stove Cubby

This tiled stove cubby was easier to do than it looks. While installing a wall vent & fan, I took the time to cut into the wall and boxed in this area with a wood frame attaching to the existing studs. Then covered the box with cement board before tiling with odds and ends tiles found on sale. Applying wood stain to some of the lighter tile pieces gave it an "Old World" look. Because of the grease prone area, I applied polyurethane for easy wipe cleaning.

Mary Insana on Nov 22, 2013Love it ! If my cabinets were higher I would be starting it this weekend. By the way, I have the same stove as you but in the electric version.
