Transformation of a Microwave Cabinet

In a house that we were flipping we had a cabinet dedicated to a microwave. I didn't like the curves of that cabinet and I thought that most people like the microwave above their stove. We decided to take the microwave cabinet down and turn it into a wine cabinet.
We took the cabinet down from the wall and marked it with a straight edge. We used our circular saw to cut the curved sides off and trim the bottom.
We sanded the edges and took the doors off of the top. We filled in the holes from the screws and sanded. We reinstalled the cabinet and wiped on a coat of liquid deglosser. I applied a coat of Zinsser primer and two coats of oil based paint from Benjamin Moore in Cloud White.
Cabinet back up on the wall! After it was on the wall we added scrap wood to make some cubbies for the wine bottles.

Materials I used for this project:

  • Benjamin Moore oil paint   (Benjamin Moore)
  • Jasco liquid deglosser   (Lowe's)
  • Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 primer   (Lowe's)

Great work on the wine cabinet. Looks like you remodeled the kitchen also. Would love to see that transformation.

If anyone likes that outdated kitchen better than the remodeled one, then they better get some new glasses. I love it! You did a fabulous job!

Thank you!! Can't please everyone but I despised that bowed microwave cabinet.
