i repaired a sofa just like this one for my friend, I took the faux leather back off replaced that with just a dark cotton fabric and made a new front cover for the one that had worn through with the leather I removed from the back of the sofa Because it sits with the back towards the wall no one sees the different fabric at the back. looked great made her day
I fixed mine with paper bag and glue, then repainted it with watered down latex paint.
Not sure but it might work if you use white glue to get edges to stick, then cover over with some matching craft paint. Excuse my senior moment, won't think of the name until after I send this.
Easiest way I can think of is the way our grandmother's did a scarf or throw over the back. Is it in the sun? That can dry out fake or even real leather. Also is that someone's designated seat? That could lead to more wear than in areas where noone regularly sits.
Parts of our REAL leather couch, where we sit mostly, have turned reddish-orange. Any ideas?
There is an ingenious company called MastaPlasta that came out with a product to fix leather that will blow you away. here is their company link;

If you don't like the idea of taking off the back and trying to fit it in. The best solution may be a scarf or throw over the back. Is it possible that it is still under warranty. If you purchased it in the last year or two call the store and report your problem. They may offer to fix it to keep you happy. One unhappy customer costs a store twenty potential customers.
Mine is peeling too. I'm going to try to glue upholstery fabric over it. How annoying tho.you buy something and it peels!!

Help to repair my leather sofa
It's hair products that are ruining the surface. You can use a piece of fabric over the head section... velcro it to the sofa at the ridge at the top and just leave the other edges unattached that way you can launder it.
