What exactly are you asking?Cleaning what and organizing how?
Organizing really depends on what you need to organize. For cleaning, this is a great all around surface cleaner- http://www.hometalk.com/diy/clean/ovens/eco-oven-cleaner-17895545
DIY Oven Cleaner | An Insanely Easy and Eco Friendly Method
Hi Sandy! What are some problem spots in your kitchen? What do you feel you don't have room for? Also, a photo would really help!
I agree I'd love to see some picture of your problems areas.
Small kitchens are all about efficiency of movement; if you can, put your fridge, stove and sink in a triangle pattern from each other. Also, keep items close to where you use them -cups near sink, cooking items near stove, etc -this will make it so that when you need something you just have to reach for it. Try to keep your counters clutter free; this will make cleaning easier and, when you want to cook, you will have the space to do it ;) it is always easier to keep up than it is to catch up so, clean regularly; do dishes as soon as you have used them or, (a trick I use) only keep the dishes you need in circulation; if you have a set of 12 plates but only have 4 in your family, then only keep 4 plates in your cupboard and put the others in storage for dinner parties -you will find the stack of dishes in the sink greatly reduced(!)
Great idea about the dishes.
I don't keep anything that performs only one function unless that function is very unique, example: colander (but if I had a pot with a draining insert I wouldn't keep a colander, I'd just use the pot insert). If you don't use it, don't keep it...I can buy an angel food cake if I ever need one but since I don't really like this cake I donated the special pan that you can't use for anything else. Don't keep condiments in packages from fast food, nor plastic spoons or straws, etc. don't keep paper menus, use your phone. Don't keep plastic containers that don't have lids. Stack what you can in your cabinets and move shelves if you can, if not you should invest in shelves that allow you to double-decker items. Cup hooks could help. To organize, think about how you use your kitchen. Tools you use for prep could be close to a sink. Cooking utensils and hot pads should be close to the stove, cups close to your coffee pot, etc. there's no one rule because everyone cooks different and each kitchen is different. Keep countertop clutter to a minimum, choose a color scheme and stick to it. Keep an item in its place and you can always find it.
