Building a Chicken Tractor (Coop) With Recycled Materials

Pantry Paratus
by Pantry Paratus
A is a portable that means no land is sacrificed to the scratching, and that all of your land is fertilized. We built ours out of a old lawnmower tires, old sheet roofing, chicken wire, some scrap wood & nails. More details here: http://pantryparatus.com/blog/chicken_coop_wilson/
Front of the Chicken Tractor. The steep roof is because of Montana's snow.
Recycled roofing, chicken wire are obvious from the back view.
We built 3 nesting boxes; our bedding is usually dried grasses or straw. They, for some reason, only use 1 & in the corner underneath the boxes.
Recycled lawn mower wheels & pallet. We do winterize this tractor for harsh Montana weather.

Last year the Coyotes killed all our chickens over the course of 2 weeks. I want to get more but a fully enclosed coop and safe area take up a lot of space. This might work. Thanks

This possibly might work for you, we have been very fortunate to not lose an animal yet and we do live in coyote-wolf-mountain lion territory. I think the biggest trick is to keep moving it, because if something is trying to tunnel a way through, you'll catch that in time.
