Is there and easy way to make fringe, with maybe embroidery thread?

Michlosangeles on Nov 26, 2013Hi, Theresa! I don't know of an easy way to make fringe, it's pretty labor intensive. Maybe the best way to make the two lamps match would be to pull off the old fringe. Then you could glue store-bought fringe trim around the bottom of both lampshades.Helpful Reply

Terri Mayfield on Nov 27, 2013To make fringe, I wrap yarn, raffia or whatever you want around a piece of cardboard. AS you remove the wound yarn, you could glue one side on the lampshade and after the glue dries, cut the bottom loops into a "fringe":.Helpful Reply

Cynthia E on Jan 09, 2014Theresa do a search on DIY Fringe-- it depends on what type of fringe you need to duplicate on how to do, will take some work but it is do-able. But like Michlosangeles said it would be simpler to remove existing fringe , buy new fringe in that style and apply to both shades.Helpful Reply

Nancy Gramm on Mar 12, 2015Actually, it's not that difficult to make fringe, though it is much easier to simply buy it. But if you're looking for a specific color fringe then making it might be your best bet. Terri has the right idea, though I go a step further and sew the top down so attaching is easier. I also wind the yarn onto a crochet fork--see attached photo--which makes stitching easy. You could possibly create a similar tool from a wire clothes hanger. Good luck!Helpful Reply
