Here is a quick and easy Christmas Table decoration that you could do if you are not super busy getting ready for Christmas day. Or just need to unwind and do something fun for a little while. And you will be recycling and crafting, to boot.
Using an empty yogurt container you could make a nice end table decoration in no time. I wouldn't suggest using the candles seen here. I did not have any battery powered tea lights back when this photo was taken but really wanted to see if the project had any possibility of working out.
I borrowed some photos from another project since the process is the same. You will need Acrylic paints, Your choice of color spray paint. A couple brushes. And a few miscellaneous supplies you likely already have. There will also be some other items to embellish the decoration to finish your project but we can wait to cover them.
The first thing to do once you are set up is basecoat the container using the spray paint. An option to spray painting is using a primer such as Zinsser 123 Primer.
If you opt. to using a primer you can then apply the main coat of paint by either painting a solid color, or dab on some colors of your own choosing. In the earlier Yogurt container post, the containers were going to be used as plant pots and veggie seed starters.
Keeping the container upside down You can now paint a simple winter scene on it. I like to feature a snowman in many of the scenes I paint and have them doing something interesting. You can reference the snowmen shown in these photos or have some fun coming up with your winter picture.
Though we are in the Holiday season right now you could just as easily paint whatever scene you would like and adjust the embellishment to go beyond the season and have a conversation piece on the table.
This is the back sides of the first two containers. Simply to provide ideas as to what you can do. Snowmen do not need to be perfectly shaped which will make them more realistic.

And this project is supposed to be relaxing so if you don't paint, other than the first coats, apply some Christmasy stickers or cut something out from an old or new card and glue it on.
A simple scene can be of a snowman and a decorated Christmas tree as on this one. If using your completed project on an end table you only need to paint something on one side. As the main table decoration, you might want something on the other side too.
I used the clear plastic cap from a spray gloss can, to go over the tea light. I used a clean dusting pad that was pulled apart for the imitation snow. An idea I obtained from another crafter here on HT. She made ''Faux'' faux fur from something similar.
Once you have your snow in place. Or some other mat under the container you can add whatever extras you would like to embellish your project. I had some wrapped Hershey candies available and borrowed the two angels from under the Christmas tree.//

Feel free to check out the blog post that the link will take you too. It features repurposed cans, spoons lids and more that make up a ''Faux''faux Christmas tree.
