  • Hi Larry, This is possibly the result of pests such as aphids or white flies. You need to control the pests in order to resolve the mold. Here is an article by Clemson University about how to control aphids and white flies: http://www.clemson.edu/extension/county/laurens/mg/askmg/030_aphids_and_whiteflies.pdf Also, here is a good article by the University of Florida IFAS Extension that gives some a good overview of growing gardenias in Florida: http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/mg336

A very effective product that killis all stages of whitefly cycles is called Naturalus T & O. It's biological fungus (much safer than most pesticides) that attaches to the pest and sucks it dry.

spray with half whole milk and water inside and out of bush and leave it . it will cure it and not harm it or the eco system.

My grandmother had the biggest, prettiest gardenia bush I have ever seen. It was at the corner of the back porch. She threw the dishwater on it when she finished washing the dishes. She didn't know that the tiny bit of grease and the soapy water repelled pests. She just had to empty the dishpan! Now, they tell you to mix oil, water, and a little Dawn in a spray bottle and spray the bush down. Grandma, you did good!!
