Hometalk policy

Jeanette S on Nov 30, 2013I did not catch that one. Usually it is the "others" that close them down! This is a fun page...people should be able to caution others but not criticize! I do caution people to make sure they do not have an expensive period piece before they paint a piece of furniture. Sorry you had a bad experience. People on Hometalk are the best so just keep watching and post your ideas!Helpful Reply

Shari on Nov 30, 2013One of the things I really like about HomeTalk compared to some of the other sites I've been on is 99.9% of the time members here are friendly, helpful, encouraging and supportive. For that small percentage that aren't--and I know who you are talking about and totally agree "her" comments were out of line--you can report the comments by clicking on the arrow at the far right of their comment. A "Flag as spam" button drops down and once you click on that, you have the opportunity to elaborate that their comment(s) is/are inflammatory, inappropriate etc. I'm not sure if that is the intended purpose or if it actually does any good but I have to assume it will at least alert the HT monitors there is someone who isn't playing nicely.Helpful Reply

Vintage Headboards on Nov 30, 2013I too am sorry you had a bad experience @Sherry Attard - this website has gone through some good changes in layout and structure and continues to improve. As someone that markets our products as well products for other Companies/Customers on the web what I have found is that if you have a good thing going - regardless of the product or service - there will always be someone negative towards it. Much the same for retail Customers - if you strive to truly do the best that you can you have to accept the fact that there will always be someone that you will never please. People are entitled to their opinions. Eventually readers will see patterns and realize that the sources are not credible and will eventually ignore them. Don't let one person's opinions ruin your enjoyment of this website. There really are a lot of good people here without hidden agendas that all share things in common. Our love for creativity and being original and the enjoyment of sharing it with the world.Helpful Reply

Yair Spolter on Nov 30, 2013Hi Sherry, I'm Yair from Hometalk Support. I'm sorry if you were offended by anything you encountered on Hometalk. We are constantly monitoring the site to ensure that the Hometalk posting guidelines are enforced. However, as the site continues to grow this becomes increasingly challenging. As @Shari mentioned, you can help us by flagging inappropriate content when you see it. The thread that you are referring to has been cleaned up.Helpful Reply
