Jutta Sonntag on Dec 01, 2013It sounds as if something came and died somewhere in the works, speaking only from the standpoint of how much wildlife enters my home when it rains in Florida.Helpful Reply

Paula on Dec 01, 2013I had this problem in the Keys (Florida) years ago after we'd closed up the house for the summer and gone north. A palm rat (nasty!) had somehow gotten in and gotten under the fridge and died there!!!!Helpful Reply

Jessica C on Dec 01, 2013I have heard activated charcoal works well to absorb odors. You can buy charcoal pads at Home Depot (they are used for filters in range hoods). I would put a couple of those in and around your refridge to absorb the odors.Helpful Reply

Patricia Mcivor on Dec 02, 2013Yes rang the refrigerator man today and said to take the back off fridge. Well there is not a screw anyway in site. There is obviously a secret to taking it off and the tradesmen know how to do it of course and charge a squillion. Will get more bicarb etc and give another go before paying out. Thank you anyway everybody.Helpful Reply

Janet Harden on Dec 02, 2013the freezer can contribute the odor in the cooler compartment. also what did you clean it with? i like to use a good cleaner like hydrogen peroxide, or baking soda and water, or white vinegar (the vinegar odor will disipate in a few hours). good luck it could be something dead behind or in the inner workings.Helpful Reply

Patricia Mcivor on Dec 02, 2013It was done with vinegar, Janet. Yes tried to get back of fridge off but the two sides and back seem to be one piece, but can't even see screws. Hopefully will disappear in a few days. It's pretty awful though. Thanks for your comment.Helpful Reply
