GrandmaCarol Speight on Dec 01, 2013I would sand it to smooth out any rough areas then purchase a quality rust-proof paint for use on metal and then after painting.....hang signs all over to remind myself NOT to grab hold of the handle for at least 12 hours!...lololol. Good luck!Helpful Reply

Denise Vieira on Dec 01, 2013I have a similar handrail. Painted it once, and saved a small amount of paint in a baby food jar. Wrapped a piece of tape around the lid & added a child's paintbrush with an elastic band. Whenever needed, just a touch up does nicely. That was some 30 years ago & it still looks like new.Helpful Reply
