Repainting a coffee table

Mary Insana on Dec 01, 2013What kind of paint did you use?. I suggest using chalk paint or homemade chalk paint.. I ha a similar problem and chalk paint worked for me. Just make sure you seal the chalk paint with wax or a coat of poly spray and then you'll be able to wipe the table off with no problems.Helpful Reply

Linda Losapio Nusum on Dec 02, 2013Mary gave you the exact answer that I was going to! If you used a glossy poly on it you might have to lightly sandHelpful Reply

Shelley Johnson on Dec 02, 2013Agree with above, but it never hurts to use a primer on a difficult surface. Kilz is a great primer and any kind of paint should go easily over the primer. I've used it on highly varnished furniture as well as laminate. You can get Kilz at Lowe's or Home Depot.Helpful Reply

Heidi N on Dec 02, 2013I am having a similar problem with a house we just moved into- the trim, banisters, etc were recently painted and are still tacky. Thoughts? I do not know what kind of paint was used and I live in a fairly arid climate, so humidity is not an issue.Helpful Reply

Dottie Unruh on Dec 26, 2015If it is a beach table and stuff is sticking to it, why not coat the top with sand, then give it a good poly coating so that sand stays on? It would be unique.....Helpful Reply
