For those with questions about blooming: Christmas (and Easter and Thanksgiving) cacti are short-day plants that hail from the rain forest of Brazil. They need 14 hours of darkness—and evening temperatures not above 68 degrees—to set blooms. If they are in a room with a lot of artificial light, or that is kept too warm, they will not bloom. Do not let the soil dry out during blooming season.
