These are all great suggestions. I am amazed that code books do not require these on new installations. Hope everyone who has a fireplace and even a heating chimney as they can benefit from them preventing birds from sitting on the edge on cold mornings only to pass out from the CO from the heating equipment. When that happens they fall into the chimney often plugging the vents for the appliances. Several years ago we pulled a goose out of a chimney that suffocated due to the CO.
