I use salt, baking soda and borax. Mix it in 3 equal parts and just shake it in and scrub. You'll be really happy with the results. You can also use a pumice stone to remove water stains and rings. Yep a pumice stone, just like the one you use on your feet! It will remove mineral build up but not scratch the toilet.

Does the pumice stone scratch the toilet? What kind of pumice stone did you use?

I'm so glad it worked! Happy to help. It's what I do.

You can use the ones you get at a drug store. Pumice is harder than the minerals on the toilet but softer than the porcelain. So NO scratching.

These "rings" make me nuts. I would travel frequently and when I return home, the ring would be awful. After trying everything, I finally bought a gallon of hydrochloric acid, put in squirt bottle and applied. Put a wad of toilet paper on the crud so the acid will stay for a while. Take deep breath and hold your breath, saturate the toilet paper was with acid, run out and close the door. I did this once every couple months for a couple years. I finally realized that lots of metal things in each bathroom had rusted (scissors, nail clippers, sewing pins, etc.) . Back to square one. I am afraid to use the pumice.

Baking soda and hydrogen peroxide, make a paste and apply it to the toilet after you have removed the water from the bowl, Brush and flush.

Baking soda mixed with either household cleaning vinegar or peroxide works well as a paste for cleaning the toilet. I flush turn off the water to the toilet, flush, and then apply the paste using a scrubbie used only to clean the toilets. Apply and rub especially on the hard water line and leave on for as long as feasible. Scrub more and then turn the water back on and flush.
