If I am putting wallpaper up, then my favorite tip is to keep your little snap blade utility knife handy so that if you see a rogue bubble under the paper that didn't get smoothed out, you can make a tiny cut in the paper where the bubble is to release the air. You'll want to find a spot that is pretty unobtrusive -- say at the junction of two colors -- and make an incision about 1/8 to 1/4 inch long -- then smooth out. There probably be some glue that oozes out: just wipe off with a damp cloth, and you should be good to go!
