Be prepared in March...but make sure we are frost free before planting tender new plants.

There are 3 planting zones in Florida so planting times vary, and they are dissimilar from those of Northern growers. Some varieties will simply not grow well in this state. It might be best to contact the extension office in your county. I have had quite a lot of information disseminated from the one local to me, and it is augmented by the nearby university agricultural program: http://ifas.ufl.edu/?gclid=CNCRtaGUs9ECFQONaQodp8YAgw , which is for North Florida zone 8B. I have also been happy with my subscription to Florida Gardening magazine http://www.statebystategardening.com/florida which has a monthly to-do list for the 3 zones (North, Central, South. My best advice is to make a plan, start small, and prepare your area before you get ahead of yourself. Happy growing!
