I had some luck just last week by picking out the big pieces and then using some rubbing alcohol to loosen and pull up the rest. Good luck!

How can I remove / clean up candle wax from carpet?
try to melt the wax with a blow dryer, maybe you can get most of the wax up and then try alcohol for the remainder.
Take a clean plain brown paper bag and place on top of the wax. Use a warm iron to aid in melting the wax enough so you can scrape it off.
Use a brown paper bag (or packing paper if you have some laying around) and a warm iron. Place paper over wax, place warm iron over paper, move iron slowly until you see paper getting "wet" appearance (which is wax melting). Move paper to a "dry" section and repeat. Keep going until no more wax seeps up. Worked great for me!
Lay a tissue or paper towel on the wax,heat with an iron on low
I sprinkle a layer of flour over the wax, cover this with a heavy layer of paper towels and press with a warm iron. The flour will absorb the wax and you can vacuum the entire thing up. Repeat if necessary. If the is any stain left Spot Shot will remove it. i do rinse the area with aoxture of vinegar and water,
