Country Kitchen Island/Bar

After pricing similar islands I found at Pottery Barn I decided to make my own. My husband and I turned this Pottery Barn console that I found on craiglist for $300.00 into a rolling Kitchen Island/Bar. The completed project was less than $500.00. The ones I had seen at PB were $1,500.00. I saved a bundle! Here's how I did it. I painted the entire console an oyster white. I used Behr paint with added primer. Then my husband cut bead board panels for the insets and glued them into each of the insets. I used pre-primed bead board. I painted a second coat on the entire island. I then followed up with a third coat allowing each coat to dry for 24 hours. I followed this up with an acrylic top coat for protection. I purchased Numerar Birch Butcher Block from Ikea for $139.00. My husband cut this down to size and I treated it with 3 coats of Tung Oil to prepare it. I put casters in all 4 corners. I still have to attach the Butcher Block and can't wait to git it done!
