I need help making a desk

I would like to creat a desk using wood fromLowes or Home Depot as I cannot afford reclaimed wood. I am thinking of using a two drawer cabinet to hold the wood in place. However, a desk needs to be at least 30 inches in height but the cabinets are only 24 inches....any ideas?

You could raise the height of your cabinet by nailing two 6 inch boards to the top of your cabinet, creating an open storage slot. (3 boards would give you a back)

Really depends on how much you want to spend and how handy you are.
A combination of a 2" by "4 frame(s) and:
- some bun feet;
- fence post finials; and
- casters
could make up the 6 inches.
Fence post finials/caps are a cheaper alternative to bun feet.
