Hi Cookie! If the cut doesn't need to be smooth, this is a great tutorial - http://www.hometalk.com/diy/craft/candles/diy-beer-bottle-glass-cutting-candles-at-home-24839405

I like to cut bottles by scoring with a bottle cutter. This one gives a line that is even http://www.michaels.com/diamond-tech-green-bottle-cutter/10254030.html . Then tap it a bit. But use the hot/cold treatment to bust it apart at the score.
For me, I wold still want it to be smooth since I tend to be klutzy. I have never tried this so I have no other words of advice. I live in the woods so have many 4 footed neighbors who are klutzy and tend to break anything glass so I gave up on glass, no matter how pretty it is.
