I'm not sure, but if you do - there is a specific type that doesn't go rancid (the type that you generally buy in food stores can). I'll try and find out what it's called!
What about WD-40?
yep tried that too. but thanks. wonder can I use the coconut oil directly on the wood for moisture...like I do my furniture (wow what a difference!) have antiques and this stuff is fab...rub on, rub in good, let dry, wipe off excess that doesnt soak in. looks much better....wonder if it works on me? thanks again!
When we had this problem years ago, a professional installer told us to sprinkle baby powder onto the flooring and sweep into the cracks and if it was possible to screw the the wood to the joists beneath the squeaky area if it was reachable.
When someone walks over the floor in a spot where there's a space, the subfloor may push down and rub against the joists. Then, you hear the end result as that squeak. Filling in the gap could stop the noise. To do it, you'll use a small piece of wood called a shim. Or you could sprinkle baby powder, baking soda or powdered graphite over the squeaky floorboard and work it into the seams. This will lubricate the wood and should keep the floorboards from rubbing together and squeaking.
There's no use for coconut oil. All that will happen is that oil will get all over your floor and possessions, making it slick and unpleasant to walk on. This approach is quite foolish, even if various oils are frequently excellent cleaning products.
