Make shelves with planks and cinderblocks, maybe wrap the blocks in fabrics. Do some dumpster diving! Many furniture items can be found by apartment dumpsters that need only some cosmetic help. Cruise the neighborhoods on the week of heavy trash pickup, possible goldmine of furnishings. Check Garage Sales! Some will be willing to let stuff go for next to nothing if they are nearing the end of their day and something big didn't sell. I bought two very sturdy chairs for $50 at the end of the day.
Sew or use iron on tape to join bandanas for pillows, stuff with stuffing you can get a fabric store, use a coupon for better price. I have even stuff them with plastic bags for the kids to use outside. Flat sheets give a lot of fabric for the money, So many uses. Goodwill or other resale stores can be a great way to find knick knack or even dishes or lamps, you can spray paint almost anything not used for food. Have fun.
You could use a pallet to make a barn door for wall decor - like this one: https://www.hometalk.com/diy/build/doors-windows/a-discarded-pallet-crafted-into-a-cute-barn-door-2372399

Thanks for the great ideals!
So did I understand that you live in barn? That so cool. So you say cute does that feminine? Yes check every goodwill in your area. You can find sofas for 35 bucks in decent condition. Nothing wrong with a budget. If we all did that we would be better off. I'm not familiar with TX I would say go to the goodwill in high end communities for best picks. Ask places that sell items sometimes they have things that arrived with a ding in it and plan on sending it back you might be able to take it off their hands for up to half off. Asking never hurts. Worse case scenario is that they say no.
I bought a whole set of large full length Drapes that were more or Less just large oversize panels.. they worked perfectly to toss over my old couch and chairs in living room. Tucked in they look like slip covers..( sorta a cotton Type fabric - stripes in Rust and olive Green and Cream, look great. Old Buckets Spray painted hold magazines, newspapers, books, Games 4 to 6 buckets lined 2 across with ply wood top ( this could be a Cupboard or Room door too) = Coffee or End tables. Buckets = Storage . Old Trunk or wood box could be used for storage too..
Look for old Book shelves, metal Storage shelves, etc.. Old metal cupboards, all can be painted or stained again... Old large Suitcases can be stacked and in bathroom could hold bathroom supplies, Towels, washcloths etc.. I have a old oak Pie Taker Basket that holds all my lotions and shower gels in my bathroom..
As the previous suggestions implied, play up the barn look! Incorporate some chicken wire in the cupboard fronts (instead of glass). Consider using bandana prints, maybe a few ceramic chickens for decorations, Red & white check fabric for a table cloth or curtains. Be sure to check Craigslist free section and freecycle. Use denim strips to make your own braided rug. Dissemble free pallets to make into various furniture or crates. Silk white daises in a mason jar for a centerpiece.
We'd love to see pictures as you go!
