Question about cutting back ornamental ginger plants

We have large ornamental ( variegated) ginger in the yard but it suffered frost damage which is rare for our area. Can it be fully cut back to ground and leave tubers in place? Will it regrow?

I was hoping to see a picture of the ginger because I have some in two colors: pink and lilac. I leave it out every winter in the planter and it comes back every year. Oh, I also have white.

Yes, it will re-grow if you cut it back to the ground. I do it every time it freezes.

Should you wait to see if another hard freeze happens. I was thinking about waiting until late February or March - I am in Southeast Texas.
