Cindy Laskevich on Dec 08, 2013I would look for some very modern images that suggest ocean elements but aren't necessarily obvious. a swirl...wait...is that a wave? Some curved lines...is that a fish? Check out the Martha Stewart special effects options at Home Depot too. I just find that less is more...something too much in your face will lose its appeal quickly.Helpful Reply

Shari on Dec 08, 2013It's difficult for me to envision what you envision without some type of picture but when I think of having an artist "paint objects on the wall" I think of random beachy elements like shells, fish, boats etc. scattered here and there, which seems rather juvenile or out of date, decorating-wise. However, maybe this isn't what you are envisioning at all. Anyway, if you want to decorate an accent wall, I would suggest a very subtle tone on tone or light colored stencil pattern on one wall--perhaps something like the photo I am attaching. The stencil pattern would not have to have a beach or water theme. I would actually let other elements in your room (bedding, artwork, or accessories etc.) say "beachy" or "coastal."Helpful Reply

Debbie Harris on Dec 09, 2013If you're going to the trouble of having an artist come... Enjoy the room... Have him/her paint the just shore line in a shade darker than your existing wall color, (like a shadow or a hint) with random dunes and reeds... then paint soft flowing sheer curtains to frame YOUR shore like you are looking outside your big open doorway... It's not really a mural because your not painting the whole wall just giving the eye what it needs to imagine the dream... OR do something else imaginative. This is your room have fun with it.Helpful Reply

Diann on Dec 11, 2013What about the dune grass seen on seashore sweeping inward toward the headboard with seagulls flying overhead. Don't know if you can visualize what I'm talking about or not.Helpful Reply

Brenda Moss on Dec 11, 2013you know I can Diann and will consider the idea. I think it would be whimsical, will run it past the artist. ThanksHelpful Reply
