Robin @ Redo It Yourself Inspirations on Dec 08, 2013There are a variety of ways and mediums to obtain the distressed look. Chalk paints, inks (I've used India Ink) and stains. Latex paints can be watered down. A brush on then wipe or sand off works well.Helpful Reply

Porta Verde Studio on Dec 08, 2013The first thing is to stain the wood the colour you want to show through. Then apply thinned coats of paints which you can then either wipe off or sand off until you get the effect you like. The "aged" dirty finish is usually achieved by using a tinted brown poly over the whole thing or you can make an aging glaze and apply that. If you decide to use chalk paints, remember they are very porous and then you will have to wax them and that needs to be reapplied over time. Better to apply an aging glaze over chalk paint and then a clear poly over the entire thing. It will be quite a bit of work either way. I hope it works out for you.Helpful Reply

Kim Dagenais on Dec 12, 2013Thank you. When Canadian goes to the US or other countries for surgeries, it is usually because the wait times here are unbelievable. I was even considering it myself, but hey I am disabled and can't afford such high surgery rates. I guess it is only the rich.Helpful Reply
