If you haven't waxed over it, then it should be no problem!
Yes, or try another coat of chalk paint on a small area to see if it helps. The darker the color, the better the coverage. Pure White usually needs more coats because it has less pigment. For dark wood, I would guess it will need three coats of chalk paint if the paint is a light color. I've painted even oil based paint over chalk paint without a problem. It's not a bad primer
