My Dad used to give me this sage advice that applies to most anything, but it particularly applies to Grandfather Clocks and I imagine also to Cuckoo Clocks:

"There are two kinds of people that work on watches; Watchmakers and Fools."

Call a pro, it will cost you less money and frustration in the long run.

I agree with Phil. Call or take them to a pro.

You might try air (like you use to clean PC keyboards), but I would be VERY careful. NEVER add lubrication. Find a clockmaker. And if you meet a watchmaker--send him my address. I have several antique pocket watches needing professional care

Joe. Have a great antique clock/watch repairman. In N.C. e mail me at gbloftus@yahoo.com and I will give you all the info. He's 90 years young and amazing.

I'm 75 but when I was in my 20's, I tried to save money by hand washing 2 absolutely beautiful white sheep-skin rugs we were given as a wedding present. Needless to say, I ruined them. Save up and have one fixed at a time if you care about them. A clock or a watch needs an expert.

Fascinating. Could you forward your artisan's address, that I might ask for an examination and estimate on repairs?

    Respond at " jeglackin@gmail,com".

    They are a dying treasure.

    Thank you for your attention.
