Kitchen Calendar Command Center

Before becoming parents, my husband and I were pretty independent people. For the most part, he kept track of his schedule, I kept track of mine, and neither of us were too terribly concerned about what the other had planned unless it involved ourselves or a plane ticket. Oh how times have changed! Our Kitchen Calendar "Command Center" is what keeps my family organized more than anything else I've ever created or implemented - and it's incredibly simple to duplicate!

Liliana Wells on Dec 10, 2013Great idea when you have a big family. I used to keep track of events when I was working and running around like a chicken with the head cut off. I had little stickers like a cake for birthdays, a cat or a dog for vet appoints and so on. I used to get those in the mail from organizations asking for donations. Now that I am retired, I do't even look at the clock or wear a watch anymore. Merry Christmas.

Sarah Carroll on Jan 28, 2014Kitchen calendar a must when children are in the family, especially as they grow older. I had one and it was only one! One master copy and it was for all 7 of us. Having seven calendars would take away the main reason why we had the calendar to begin with. It was so the control center (me) knew just what was going on and when I was needed and when a car was needed. A quick glance every morning started my day with a smile. No surprises! Making appointments was so easy for the calendar was next to the phone and it was posted on a bulletin (cork) board. Notes from the children where read and of course from the man of the household, they needed to know when I was available. Now that the children are adults and we are home alone the computer calendar shared by each of us ( my husband and me) makes it so much easier when making appointments, etc. What I love is his in blue and mine in purple, He set this all up for I think he likes the calendar too! When I get a call I will say I need to check the calendar first, and this seems to be the norm for the other end says "I will wait", usually is for an appointment. I think they too appreciate that we have a calendar that is shared.
