Inspired by a thread started by Connie I've actually gotten this question a fair amount through the years-
How do I Repurpose a Dresser (Piece of Furniture) for a Vanity?
While of course 1) Where to put the plumbing innards? and 2) Will I need to and how do I modify the top drawer? - are important questions ... I always feel you need to start with the dimensions of the piece. How Deep, How Wide and ! How Tall?!
If you have tracked bathroom vanities in recent years you know they are trending taller - to between 34-36 inches. If you are considering an antique piece then it is likely not nearly that tall. From there you have two easy options:
1) Add a height with a vessel sink.
2) Add height with furniture/legs.
These pics came from my last house. circa 2006. The stand on the left I "made," The stand on the right was there when we bought the house, in 2002 (made by gentlemen - carpenter who knew his stuff) and sorry about the small sizes on the pics I wasn't big into them back then. ha! enjoy!
