Painted Camphor Chest

I painted a couple more camphor chest recently.
After blending white paint with a lovely dark blue . I added silver foil to the carved bamboo designs.
sealed with dark and clear wax
This one has three colours pink, lilac and aqua. and added silver foil.
sealed with a spray lacquer sealer.
GORGEOUS !!

Absolutely gorgeous, I have a camphor glory box that was passed down to me and I would love to upcycle it.
Did you have to do any special prep work on this piece (as in paint/varnish stripper) or sanding?
Would love to know where to begin!
