Lavende on Dec 10, 2013What kind of flooring do you have over the slab? If its carpet you could run an extension cord to the center. Cut a slit into the foam pad to hide the cord line, then a hole in the carpet large enough for the outlet.Helpful Reply

Hewitt Remodeling Services LLC on Dec 11, 2013No disrespect intended, but it is never a good idea to run an extension cord under carpeting. Bordeaux has the best solution if adding ceiling lighting isn't enough, and that is to cut the slab and have an electrician install approved floor outlets. Depending on the length of the run and where the power is coming from, you might consider a commercial type floor cable cover run on top of the finished flooring, whatever it is.Helpful Reply

Jeani Miller Miner on Mar 24, 2015never run cords under carpet. they will break down over time and pose a fire hazard. consider instead using pendant lights over end tables.Helpful Reply

Comet on Jun 16, 2015There are conduits that can supply space for electrical wires--think of a log cabin with no hollow places to run wires! These can be spliced into your existing wiring and then run along the walls---any electrician should be able to do this for you to either the whole room perimeter (my choice) or just to where you need them now--if you do the whole room (s) now then if you change furniture or when you sell the furniture placement will not need to be only in that one place. I am sure it would in some ways be easier to do a whole room at once vs piecemeal with starting and ending the conduit.Helpful Reply
