Great question Janet! Blackout honeycomb shades are made by lining the inside of the back cell with dark material or mylar. Unfortunately this would not be possible for you to do without damaging the shade, and we do not know of anyone who takes existing shades and turns them into blackout. There are two things we'd suggest to block light in your window. If your window is deep enough, hang a blackout roller shade (http://www.blinds.com/control/product/productID,8355) behind your honeycomb shades, or if not, hang blackout curtains (http://www.blinds.com/control/product/productID,76839) in front of the shades. We'd be happy to help you find a solution that is compatible with your window. Give us a call at 800-505-1905 if we can be helpful.
