Hi! I would suggest first using a q tip dipped in hydrogen peroxide to clean out between the keys. Very dry. to remove dust and debris. Then if that doesn't remove your finger tip oil grime, switch to 90% rubbing Alcohol.

    Good luck!

also use alcohol because it dries very fast, good for this kind of thing. If you want to whiten it again, take the white cover off first and soak in bleach and water solution.

I use rubbing alcohol and a soft bristle paint brush. Dip the brush in the alcohol, wipe it off in a paper towel so its just damp. Then I just brush the keyboard. Gets in all the nooks and crannies.

fold clear tape in half and dip it inbetween your keys, it will pick up all the gunk lost in there

I have heard that you can wash it in your sink or in the dish washer if you make sure that everything is dry completely before plugging it up.

I own a school laptop and whenever it gets dirty I just use a clorox wipe. It hasn't harmed anything in the time I've used it!

I use (wrung out) Clorox wipes in my two computer labs at school. Rubbing alcohol also works. The "key" to both is making sure the keyboard is not saturated in any way. Liquid is not a friend!

    I use baby wipes.

  • If its not a laptop, but a separate desktop, take it apart and spray it with 409, or bleach and dish soap then scrub with sponge or soft brush, soak is still dirty. This way you get all the crud, between keys too.

thank everyone who made sensible suggestions to my question,

If you have a separate keyboard it can be washed in a sink...BUT certainly not a laptop! A computer pro did the sink cleaning method on my keyboard as I watched and I about had a heart attack! 😨 Definitely don't use this option on a laptop...repeat, repeat repeat!

  • Instead, carefully clean the keyboard with a cotton swab or lint-free cloth dipped in isopropyl alcohol. After that, you should totally dry it to prevent any harm.
