I have this faux marble table that got stained and i want to reface it. It came with white vinyl chairs that are worn so I've gotten new darker chairs so I'd like to go darker. Any suggestions?

Open a bottle of dark red wine. Drink most of it, leaving a cup or so in the bottom of the bottle. Pour that over the table and gently spread it out with a clean cloth or paper towels and let it sit until it stains the to top the color you desire. If it doesn't come out quite right, you really won't care all that much.

You can sand the surface and then stain and seal it, or paint it (chalk paint makes that so easy to do) Good luck!!

You will have to sand lightly with 220 grit sandpaper, clean it,then stain it.Seal the stain in with liquid plastic!

You might try sprinkling chalk dust of your favorit color and lightly sanding, marble is slightly porous, which is why it will stain. You might need a silica sealer over the top after the above.

Is it real wood though? If it is, then sanded down real well and then stain it and if you want it shiny, add one or two coats of polyurethane.

You can also sanded and paint it black and then add the polyurethane or just a satin clean coat.

  • You could consider some cool epoxy resin. You could paper mache with gold leaf and then coat it with the resin - it will sparkle!

  • Resin does scratch and can go yellow in sunlight, but you can just get some that is UV stable. I would love to see the finished product!
