Leona Zentner on Dec 14, 2013I agree with Debbie, it looks like barn wood or old pallets or a mixture of both. My nephew in Pa. Makes furniture from both and it looks like this piece. It's rustic and pretty, but not my style. I do love it, it just doesn't match our home decor.Helpful Reply

Jeanette S on Dec 15, 2013I don't know, but it is sooo pretty. I love it. And I see on some of the TV Redo shows where 1 board is VERY costly. They buy it by the board for mantles, table tops, etc. Sometimes the just sand it down a little...not enough to take away the character but enough to take away the splinters...and sometimes they smooth it way down and refinish it. Either way, it is lovely.Helpful Reply

Helen at Nothing New Whitby on Dec 16, 2013Looks like old pallets to me to. The front panels could be just about anything. Panels from an old sideboard, dresser etc. They don't have to match as thats part of the eclectic effect. Looks good though.Helpful Reply

CAROL on Dec 16, 2013If you look at the tags/labels on these pieces the majority of them are made in India/ Malaysia etc...... those craftmen will salvage just about anything and make good use of it- lots of tin pieces also- I have a little bit of hesitation in buying them not knowing the conditions the materials were salvaged from and what they were exposed to. We hear so much about using caution with pallets that carried toxic materials here in the US- They are such great pieces and have so much character- Id say that a lot of the "raw" wood in them is going to be exotic wood that is local to their area but not grown hereHelpful Reply

Margaret on Aug 25, 2015Most that I've seen are from old pallets (FREE in a lot of places here)... A lot are from old fence boards also. Some of these people are making them from all kind of leftover thrift finds and just peicing them together ... They are trying to make them look like old cypress or old barn wood; most are distressed by their own process.Helpful Reply
