Douglas Hunt on Dec 15, 2013I believe that is Tibouchina urvilleana, commonly known as princess flower or glory bush. Usually only considered hardy to zone 8, but that brick wall must be helping yours out.Helpful Reply

Suzette Trimmer on Dec 15, 2013Upon first seeing the leaves and then the flower knew right away but when saw the size of girth of the plant was amazed it grew this big, never saw any like this size before. Robin @ Redo It Yourself Inspirations on Dec 17, 2013That is a nice plant. Unfortunately it won't grow here either. It looks similar to the purple clematis, which is a vine. If controlled it could be a bush. Hardy in my zone 4, for those interested in something similar in zones as low as mine.Helpful Reply
