Backsplash

Debbie Harris on Dec 15, 2013That depends on what you want to use for your backsplash. If it's tile use thin-set. Your local hardware people can guide you to what you need for your choice of backsplash.Helpful Reply

Retro Steam Works on Dec 16, 2013It is pretty much like installing floor: http://www.lowes.com/projects/build-and-remodel/install-floor-tile/project However if it is the 1" by 1" type of tile, the amount of thinset must be not as thick, if not you would have thinset oozing through the spaces making it difficult to apply the grout afterwards.Helpful Reply

Carolyn Faye Blizzard Lanier on Dec 16, 2013If you get the all ready mixed thin set it is so much easier, make sure you use the correct kind, (meaning the size of the teeth) of notched trowel for the back splash that you are using, because it does make a difference. and it use the grout that is colored, make sure you buy enough of it the first time because even if it has the same lot # sometimes it is a different shade, Good luck with your job.Helpful Reply

Retro Steam Works on Dec 16, 2013I found another link, this might be more useful: http://www.lowes.com/cd_How+to+Install+a+Tile+Backsplash_919321523_ About what Carolyn says, premixed thinset is way more expensive than the unmixed.Helpful Reply

Carol on May 15, 2015Again it depends on what you want to use for your back dplask. Ceiling tin tiles, ceramic tile. beadboars, glass tile, wood or laminate flooring laid straight up and down or on a slant. The choices are only limited by your imagination. Each material requires a different method of installation.Helpful Reply
